Talking Hands is the exhibition curated by Luca Molinari Studio for nonprofit organization NoWalls.
Casa degli Atellani Gallery, on Milano Photo Week 2019, hosted Talking Hands: three female stories for NoWalls; the photographic exhibition curated by Paola Romano and Luca Molinari Studio, promoted by NoWalls, in favor of welcoming and integration of migrants.
Three authors:
Diana Bagnoli – italian freelance photographer, graduated in Communication and then in Photography in Barcelona, where she started working on Portrait and Social reportage. In 2009, she won the first prize in the Reportage category and was awarded as the Photographer of the Year at the FIOF Photography Awards.
Filippo Romano – documentary and architecture photographer. He specialized in photo documentary at the International Center of photography (I.C.P.) in New York. Romano’s works are mostly about cities, architectures and urban dwellers.
Ugo Lucio Borga – italian writer and photojournalist represented by Paola Meliga Art Gallery. His work has always focused on the wars, even those forgotten, humanitarian crises, social and environmental issues. In 2011 he received the first prize “Novinarska Journalism Award” for a series of stories about the rebels during the Libyan war.
The protagonists of the exhibition are hands that talk about women: waiting hands by Diana Bagnoli, there are portraits of mothers that wait their children; then portraits of pride and courage through the eyes of Filippo Romano, with hands that describe life; and at the end portraits of pain those of Ugo Lucio Borga, which document the war and the violence in black and white.
A circular and inedited storytelling: the works of the three different authors draw clearly causes and consequences of the migration process. The exhibition aims to donate the proceeds of the works to support nonprofit organization NoWalls.
