The volume aims to give space to a composite vision of Dante’s eschatology, comparing the works of contemporary Italian architects such as Aimaro Isola, Andrea Branzi and Franco Purini up to the younger generations, who have reread the “section” of the Divine Comedy through a series of original drawings, in dialogue with two other ideal visions: the Danteum project by Lingeri and Terragni and the table of the Ideal City, a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance and heritage of the Gallery of the Ducal Palace in Urbino.
In the late 1930s, the rationalist architects Pietro Lingeri and Giuseppe Terragni gave tangible form to those spaces through the never-realized Danteum project, transposing Dante’s imagery into the form of an ideal architecture rich in symbolism.
